Do I have to pay childcare if I pay maintenance?
You don’t have to pay anything more than your child maintenance sum. I would encourage you to consider requests on a case by case basis. You may want to pay a little more for one-off occasions because the money is to pay for your child.
Is daycare included in child support California?
Ordinary living expenses for a child are not covered by child support. It does not include medical bills not paid by insurance, travel expenses for visiting with the child, or any other expenses that are not covered by regular income.
The amount of child support is based on the number of children in the household and the length of the marriage. The amount is adjusted for inflation each year. If you have more children than you can support, you may be able to reduce the amount you are required to pay.
What is child support meant to cover?
Child support is supposed to help with the normal expenses associated with raising a child. Food, shelter, transportation, clothing, and educational costs are some of the normal expenses. The funds received from child support do not need to be kept separate from other financial resources. Child Support is not the same as alimony or spousal support. Alimony is a form of financial support that is paid to an ex-spouse who has separated from his or her spouse.

If you have children with your partner, you’re expected to continue paying their costs after you separate. One parent will usually pay the other. If you can’t agree, ask the Child Support Agency to do it for you. The CSA will tell you how much you’ll have to contribute each month, and how long it will take to get the money.
If you don’t get it by the due date, the agency will send you a letter telling you that you have until the end of the month to make up the difference. This is known as a ‘pay-as-you-go’ letter. It’s a good idea to keep a copy of this letter in case you need it in the future.

For example, a married couple with two dependent children will each get a credit of $500 for the first child and $250 for each of their second and third children.
