Ultrasonic vocalizations are very conspicuous during rat behavior, and they may be used as a means of communication. In the present study, we investigated the effects of a single ultrasonic sound on the rat’s behavior.
We found that the sound produced by the experimenter caused a significant increase in the frequency of the vocalization, which was followed by a decrease in its duration. This effect was not observed when the rats were exposed to a non-vocalized sound.
The results of this study suggest that ultrasonics may have the potential to be a useful tool for the study of social behavior in rats.

How many times a day do rats mate?
During a typical sexual interaction, the male performs ten to twelve intromissions and then a longer one in which the male ejaculates. In the present study, we investigated the effects of oral administration of testosterone enanthate (TEN) on the sexual behavior of male rats. We hypothesized that TEN administration would result in an increase in the number of ejaculations and that this increase would be associated with an improvement in male sexual performance.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of orally administered testosterone on sexual behaviors in rats and to determine whether the observed behavioral changes were due to the testosterone itself or to its effects on other neurotransmitters, such as dopamine, serotonin, noradrenaline, and norepinephrine.
How does a rat reproduce?
