Fence posts can be 8 to 12 feet apart. This isn’t a general criteria and doesn’t cover all scenarios. High-tensile fence can have larger spacing, requiring line posts every 15 to 20 feet for field fence styles, and as much as 30 feet for high-tensile fence.
Fence posts should be at least 4 feet high, with a minimum of 2 feet of clearance between the posts and the top of the fence. If you have a fence post that is taller than the rest of your fence, you will need to add a 2-foot gap between posts to allow for the extra height.

Should metal fence posts be set in concrete?
It is not recommended to install a chain link fence with concrete. The best way to strengthen your fence is by anchoring it in concrete.
What is a good distance between fence posts?
Typical spacing is right around 8 feet between each post however different circumstances may call for different measurements and it is not uncommon to have spacing between posts reach up to 10 feet. Once you have a rough idea of your post layout, dig a hole in the ground. This will allow you to determine the exact size of the hole you will need to make.

How do you install a chicken wire fence with metal posts?
