The best way to cover your landing is to install a “landing tread” at the front (or along the edge) of the landing. Installation of the landing tread will allow you to install our tongue and grooves flooring.

What can I use instead of stair nose?
If you want your stairs to look a little more modern, you can use hardwood like the jasper engineered hardwood. If you are looking for a stair nose that is easy to install, this is the one for you.
Does laminate flooring need edging?
While beading is not essential for laying your laminate floor, in a lot of cases it makes the final finish look better by tidying up any loose gaps in the flooring. If you want to add a beaded edge to your floor you will need to cut a piece of wood that is about the same size as the edge you are going to be using.
You can use a router to make the cut, or you can do it by hand. I prefer to use the router, but if you don’t have access to one, a hand saw will work just as well. Once you have the wood cut to the size you need, sand it smooth with 220 grit sandpaper.
This will make it easier to sand down the edges of the board. If you do not have a sanding block, you could also use an orbital sander to smooth out the sanded edges. Be careful not to over sand, as this will cause the surface to warp and crack.
It is best to do this on a flat surface, such as a table, so that it does not affect the look of your finished floor. After you sand the boards, it is a good idea to apply a coat of varnish or sealer to keep the finish from drying out too much.
Do you have to cut the tongue of the first row of laminate?
We recommend cutting off the tongue on this first row to avoid any problem with the expansion gap. The second plank should be inserted into the first at an angle pressing the short ends together. The same procedure can be done on the other side of the plank.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the next two rows. This time, insert the third plank in the middle of each row, pressing down on the long ends. Continue this process until you have completed the entire row.
