While beading is not essential for laying your laminate floor, in a lot of cases it makes the final finish look better by tidying up any loose gaps in the flooring. If you want to add a beaded edge to your floor you will need to cut a piece of wood that is about the same size as the edge you are going to be using.
You can use a router to make the cut, or you can do it by hand. I prefer to use the router, but if you don’t have access to one, a hand saw will work just as well. Once you have the wood cut to the size you need, sand it smooth with 220 grit sandpaper.
This will make it easier to sand down the edges of the board. If you do not have a sanding block, you could also use an orbital sander to smooth out the sanded edges. Be careful not to over sand, as this will cause the surface to warp and crack.
It is best to do this on a flat surface, such as a table, so that it does not affect the look of your finished floor. After you sand the boards, it is a good idea to apply a coat of varnish or sealer to keep the finish from drying out too much.

Can you glue Scotia beading?
To fit scotia using adhesive, apply grab adhesive to the back of the scotia and carefully apply to the wall, ensuring not to get any on your flooring. Any external surfaces that may be damaged by the adhesive should be applied with PVA.
Can you glue down beading?
Although you can use an adhesive to fix your scotia beading to the skirting board, we would recommend you to go for the pin or stapled fixing installation method.
What angle do you cut beading?
They need to be cut at a 45 degree angle for each end to join. Once you have the ends cut, you can glue them together to make a joint. You can use any glue you like, but I like to use superglue as it is easy to work with and doesn’t leave a sticky residue. Once the glue has dried, the joint should look something like this.
Can you lay laminate flooring without removing skirting boards?
It is possible to achieve a professional-looking finish without removing skirting boards and skis. The first thing you’ll need to do is remove your ski and/or snowboard. You’ll want to use a pair of pliers to pry them out of the bottom of your board.
Be careful not to cut yourself on the way out, or you could end up with a nasty cut on your face! and if you don’t have a plier handy, you can also use your fingers. Just be sure to keep your hands away from any sharp edges or sharp objects that could cut your skin.
Once you’ve removed the ski/snowboard, it’s time to clean up the mess you made. Use a damp cloth to wipe off any dirt or grime that may have gotten onto the board, and then wipe it off again with the cloth. It’s just a sign that you cleaned up after yourself.
What nails do you use for beading?
For a bead/ quadrant you would need bigger nails as firing into the convex surface, but Scotia would be smaller as is concave. You don’t have to worry about the 18g being thicker than you need it to be because pin nailer is better.
If you are going to use a larger nail, you will need to drill a hole in the center of the nail. This will allow you to insert the smaller nail through the hole. If you do not have a drill press, then you may want to buy one.
You will also need a screwdriver to remove the old nail and replace it with the new.
What pins to use on Scotia?
Unless you have a nail gun and attach to the skirtings only, use glue for beating. Glueing can be difficult, you would need to pin them. If you don’t have a staple gun, pin panel pins 20 or 25mm to the back of the fabric. You can also use a glue gun to attach them.”
