When no line appears in the Test Region (T) but a colored line is displayed in the Control Region (C), the drug test result is POSITIVE. A positive urine test result indicates that the drug was detected by the test. Positive urine tests indicate that a drug is present in a person’s system.
The presence of drugs in urine is not a reliable indicator of drug use. Drug use is determined by a variety of factors, including the person, the time of day, and the environment in which he or she is using the drugs.
For example, if someone is smoking marijuana in his or her car while driving, it is unlikely that that person will test positive for marijuana. However, someone who is driving a car with a passenger who has recently used marijuana is more likely to be found to have a positive result on a urine drug screen.

What do the colors on a urine test mean?
After collecting a urine sample, a colored line will appear within the ‘C’ region to indicate that the test is valid. This line is either pink or red. The test may be invalid if a colored line is only visible in the ‘T’ region and not in the ‘C’ region. If the color of the line does not match that of a valid urine specimen, you should contact your health care provider.
What does the C and T stand for on a drug test?
A colored line in the control line region (C) but no line in the test line region (T) for a. specific drug indicates a positive result. This shows that the drug concentration in the urine specimen is higher than the cut-off. (±SEM) percentage of positive (A) and negative (B) urine specimens for each of the drugs tested in this study.
Positive specimens are shown in red, negative specimens in blue, and no positive specimen in green. *P < 0.05, ** P < 1.0 × 10−5, *** P = 0, by Student's t test; n = 6.
Does a faint line on a drug test mean positive?
Yes, faint lines do indicate negative results. The presence of a test line is indicative of a negative result. Some test lines are naturally lighter than others.
How do you know if a drug test is negative?
Lines appear on the test strip for each drug being measured. If two lines appear, including two faint lines, the test is negative. The test may be positive if only the control line appears. The test consists of two steps. This is done by measuring the amount of drug that is excreted from the body in urine and feces.
For example, if you have a positive test result for cocaine, you will not be able to pass a urine drug test because you are not excreting any cocaine. On the second step, your blood is tested for the presence of other drugs, such as amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, opiates, phencyclidine (PCP), and methadone. These drugs are also known as “legal highs” because they are illegal to possess, sell, or use in most states.
What color indicates a positive drug test?
S1 is included in the supplementary file. (±SEM) percentage of positive (A) and negative (B) test results for each of the three types of urine samples (n = 10). Data are shown as mean±sEMs, n=10, with a significant difference between the two groups at P ≤ 0.05.
The asterisk (*) indicates that the difference was statistically significant at the 5% level, and the square brackets (**) indicate that it was not statistically different from zero. Full size image Download PowerPoint slide Table 1.
What is a color code drug test?
Like thousands of other alabamians who have been charged with or convicted of crimes involving drugs and alcohol, cobb must take random drug and alcohol tests through a program called “color code.”. Participants are assigned a color, such as watermelon, teal or brown, and are asked to fill out a questionnaire about their use of drugs, alcohol and other substances. Cobb said he has been taking the tests for about a year and a half and has never failed one.
He said the program has helped him stay out of trouble with the law and keep his job as a security guard at a shopping mall. But it has also made him feel guilty about his drug use, which he he is trying to get off his chest. “I don’t want people to think I’m a bad person,” Cobb said.
