How do you read a golf slope and rating?
Someone who shoots 18 over par or 90 is predicted the difficulty of a course by The Course Slope. Slope is a number between 55 and 155, with 113 being the average. The higher the number the more difficult the course. Each set of tees have a different course slope.
Course rating is calculated by taking the difference between the two numbers and dividing it by the total number of holes. For example, if a player has a Course Rating of 55, then he will get a score of 5.5 on a par 72 hole.
What is depth on a putting green?
The rules of golf states that a hole must be at least 4 inches in depth. Maintaining clean hole edges is one of the reasons why holes are changed frequently. A hole is considered to be “clean” if it is free of any debris, including golf balls, golf clubs, and other golf-related items.
A hole that is “dirty” is defined as one that has a golf ball, club, or other item in contact with the ground. Golf balls are not allowed in holes that are considered dirty, but clubs are allowed if they are in the same hole as the ball.
