What does raw data tell you?
The term raw data refers to data that has not been processed for use. A distinction can be made between data and information to the effect that information is the end product of data processing. The term “data” is often used interchangeably with “information” in the context of computer programs. For example, a computer program is a set of instructions that are executed by a processor to perform a particular task.
The instructions may be written in any language, such as C, C++, Java, Fortran, Pascal, or any other language that can be interpreted by the processor. How do I read raw data from 23andMe?
Click on your profile name on the top right-hand corner of your home page, and then select browse raw data from the drop-down menu. You will then be asked to select the type of data that you would like to submit.
If you are submitting data for the first time, you will need to enter a name for your data set. This name will appear in the “Raw Data Name” field. Once you have entered your name, click on “Submit” to begin the submission process.
What can I do with my raw DNA data?
After receiving personalized genetic reports from 23andme, customers can download their raw dna data. Some customers will do this in order to have their data uploaded to third-party services which can find new genetic markers.
Customers can also opt to have their DNA analyzed by a third party, such as the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Human Genome Sequencing Center (HGSSC) or the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).

If you want to determine your haplogroups, you can get a dna test from a company that tests using ydna. DNA tests are done, services such as 23andMe give you the haplogroup data.
