How do you pre wash duck canvas?
I usually coil the yardage around evenly in the washer and run TWO wash cycles with warm water, so that the washing fully penetrates the cotton fibers. If you are using our Army Duck, first of all, it makes amazing slipcovers, second, it will take two cycles just to wash it, and third, you will have to re-wet it after each wash cycle.
If you don’t have a duck, you can make your own by cutting a piece of duck down to the size you want, then cutting it in half lengthwise and sewing it together. You can then cut the two halves of the duck and sew them together to make a larger duck. This is a great way to use up leftover duck fabric.
Does duck cloth shrink when washed?
