(MPT), also referred to as Magnetic Particle Inspection, is a nondestructive examination technique used to detect surface and slightly subsurface flaws in most ferromagnetic materials. MPT is performed using a magnetometer, which measures the strength of the magnetic field generated by the material being tested.
The strength is measured in Gauss (G), which is defined as the force per unit area exerted by a force of one unit of mass on an object of a given mass.
For example, if the mass of an iron bar is 1 kg and the surface area is 10 cm2, then the Gaussian force exerted on the bar would be 1 G. This force is proportional to the square root of its mass, so a 10-cm2 bar exerts 10 G on a 1-kg object, or 1.1 G per square centimeter.
In other words, the test is designed to measure the amount of force required to deform a material in a specific direction, such that it will not deform in any other direction. It is important to note, however, that this test does not measure how much force will be needed to move the object.

How MPI is done?
MPI test examines blood flow through your heart during exercise on a treadmill or exercise bicycle (“physical stress”) and while you rest. If you can’t exercise well, you will get a medicine that will increase the blood flow to your heart muscle as if you were exercising.
If you have a medical condition, such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol, your doctor may want to test you to see how well you’re able to exercise.
What is MPI method?

Which metal can be tested by MPI?

What is the purpose of MPT?
A frequently used clinical tool for assessing phonatory mechanics is maximum phonation time, because of its simplicity and ease of use. The longest period during which a patient can use a word or phrase is known as the MPT. It is also the most commonly used measure of phonological efficiency.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the length of time the patient is able to phonate words or phrases on the rate at which they become phonologically efficient. We hypothesized that longer MPTs would be associated with a greater rate of improvement in phonemic efficiency, and that this effect would persist for at least 6 months after the cessation of treatment.
Why use a DPT test in welding?
DPT testing is commonly used for finding critical surface opened flaws. This is one of the main NDE methods used for inspection of Weld Joints, Castings, Forgings, in-service joints, and other critical surfaces. NDE testing can be performed in a variety of ways.
The most common method is to use a high-speed camera to take a series of images of a weld joint. These images can then be used to determine if the weld is open or not. If the image shows that the joint is not open, then it is safe to proceed with the welding operation.
Can MPI be done on Aluminium?
canNOT be used on non-ferromagnetic materials such as high alloyed steels (austenitic structure), aluminium, copper, plastics, glass, ceramics, etc. It is not recommended for use on high-temperature or high pressure applications.
