A book traces the origin of a phrase in the WWJD movement. Christians began wearing bracelets with the acronym for “What would Jesus do?” in the 1990s, the phrase was a reminder for them to act in a way that personifies what Jesus would do.
The phrase has since become a rallying cry for Christians across the country, and it has been adopted by a number of social justice organizations, including the United Church of Christ, United Methodist Church and the National Association of Evangelicals. How do you make a WWJD bracelet?
To rest the bead on the knot, slide it down. W bead to the twirled bunch of strands and slide it down to rest against the mini pony bead. If you want to rest the mini pony bead on one of the W beads, you have to string it on. Repeat this process until all the beads are in place.
Beads to the Twirled Bracelets. Using a pair of needle nose pliers, attach the miniature pony beads to one side of each bracelet. The string should be about 1/2 inch in length. Pull the strings tight and secure the knots with a piece of string or a small knot pin.

The earliest instance of the full slogan “what would jesus do” can be found in a series of serial sermons by a minister from kansas in 1886. Hodge’s sermon, entitled “What Jesus Would Do,” was published in the Kansas City Star in 1886. It was reprinted in a number of other newspapers, including the New York Times and the Chicago Daily Tribune.

Who started HWLF?
I was playing soccer with my roommate and co- founder, lukas joyner, and the third founder was my cousin, who had a full-time job. It would be an understatement to that we were busy. We gave up on the HWLF because we couldn’t put everything we wanted in it. I had just graduated from college and was looking for a job, but I didn’t know how to find one.
It took me a few months to get my foot in the door at a company that was hiring. I spent a lot of time thinking about what my next step was and how I could make a difference in people’s lives. I finally decided to go for it, it took about a year and a half to build the team and get the business off the ground.
