I use something else instead of a candle holder? A tray or something simple underneath them is one of my favorite things to use in place of a candle holder. This could be a piece of wood, a glass plate, or even a piece of cardboard.
If you are going to be using candles for a long period of time, it is best to keep them in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. You can also use a paper towel to wipe them down, but be careful not to get any of the wax on your clothes or furniture.
It is also a good idea to let the candles dry completely before using them again.

What can I put candles on?
Ceramic bowls, properly treated flower pots and well-sealed metal tins are wonderful containers. They’re easy to clean and sanitize, and they’re more resistant to heat than plastic containers. If you don’t have access to a ceramic bowl, you can use a flower pot instead.
You’ll need to make sure that the pot is at least 3/4-inch thick. If it’s too thin, it won’t be able to hold the weight of the food. Also, if you’re using a pot with a lid, be sure to seal the lid tightly so that it doesn’t leak.
How do you transfer an image onto a candle?
Place the printed photo onto the candle, wrap it in some wax paper, and then heat it up with some hot air. Canon doesn’t recommend a blowdryer, but you can use an embossing gun. The photograph will be firmly embedded into the wax once the candle has melted a tiny bit.
What surfaces are safe for candles?
Candles can be lit on a non-flammable surface. Wood, plastic, and paper pose a serious fire hazard. The surface needs to be free of debris. Keep candles away from children and pets.
How many candles is too many?
More than three candles in a room are too many. Candles should be limited based on the size of the room. At any time, use no more than 1-2 candles in a room. If you have too many candles in one room, you can harm the air quality, your mood, and the health of your pets.
If you have a large room, you may want to limit the number of candles you use. For example, if your room is 10 x 10 feet (3 x 3 meters), you should only use 3 candles per room.
Should candle be taller than holder?
Candleholder height should be proportionate with candle height. Spindly candlesticks should never be taller than their taper candles, a short candleholder (not a votive) can better accommodate a larger candle, and a slender candle stand is best suited for a smaller candle. The height of the candle holder should also be appropriate for the type of candle being held.
For example, if you are holding a small candle and want to hold it in the center of your table, you should have a height that allows you to do so. If you hold a large candle in your hand, and you want it to be held at the top, the height you need to have is the same as your candle’s diameter, which is about 1/2″ to 1″ in diameter.
Can you use a mason jar for candles?
We’ll be focusing on a creative classic: mason jars, but you can use almost any vessel that can tolerate heat. You can achieve the sweet smell of a freshly made cup of coffee by experimenting with colors and fragrances. Fill the jar with hot water and place it in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
Once the water has cooled to room temperature, pour the hot coffee into a clean jar. You can also use a coffee grinder to grind the coffee, but be careful not to over-grind the grounds. If you do, you’ll end up with too much coffee in your jar and it won’t be as sweet as you want it to be!
Add a few drops of essential oil of your choice (we used lavender) and let it sit for a couple of hours. This will allow the essential oils to permeate the cup and give it a sweet, floral aroma.
